Christmas Curiosities

I stole this off my sis-in-laws blog......here's a little xmas survey....feel free to let me know your own preferences!!

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate? - definitely hot chocolate!...even better with coffee.....a Cafe mocha at Symposium!

2. Do you have a nativity scene? I love my Willowtree nativity set.....hmmmm gotta get that set up before our small group from church comes tomorrow night.

3 . Coloured lights on tree/house or white? I prefer white, although my kids and hubby complain that our house looks boring. I say "let's get more lights!", Dave says "let's get coloured light". (I usually win!)

4 . Do you hang mistletoe? Nope....Dave doesn't need the extra encouragement!

5. When do you put your decorations up? Usually this weekend. Looking like maybe Sunday.

6. What is your favourite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? I LOVE holiday baking (mom's pecan crescents, Aunt Annette's peanutbutter cups, Jen B.'s peanut butter cookies with the chocolate kisses on them YUM!!!) Not sure how I'm going to stay away from it this year! Maybe I'll have to stick with Holiday salad!

7. Favourite holiday memory as a child: Decorating the tree with the family, drinking egg nog and listening to Christmas Carols. Also, Dreyer family Christmas parties with everyone toboganning in Barrie and then sleeping 30ish people in every room of the house!
Also, lying under the Christmas tree with Jason trying to figure out the presents. Funny, how sometimes little holes in the wrapping appeared every once in a while!!! (psssst, it was Jason!!)

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Dad dressed up like Santa one year, but I think we had it figured out. We didn't really buy into it for long.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? I think we opened all of our gifts Christmas Eve. With church on Christmas morning we were able to take our time on Christmas Eve.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? Dave puts it up, put the lights on and then we all go to town on the decorations. Then when they've all left the room I arrange and rearrange until it meets Krista standards.

11. Snow…love it or dread it? Mostly love it. Especially now that the kids love playing in it. I can't believe tomorrow is the first day of December and we haven't had ANYTHING yet!!!

12. Can you ice skate? Yes. I'm still using those lovely plastic skates that I insisted on getting in Gr. 9 and they're starting to get a little rusty, but I can still stay on my feet. We're working on the kids...

13. Do you remember your favourite gift as a child? Gr. 6: GT Snowracer. I think I had to share it with Jason until we got a second one. That thing got TONS of use!

14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you? Church, time with family. Doesn't get any better!

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? I'm with Jenn on this one......ANYTHING CHOCOLATE!

16. What tops your tree? A gold star.

17. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving? I LOVE getting that PERFECT gift for someone. But I HATE buying something for them just for the sake of buying them something. I must say, with 3 kids, the giving is more fun!

18. Gift bags or wrapping paper? Wrapping paper.

19. Do you send out Christmas cards? usually! Homemade ones if I'm on the ball. This year....well, we'll see!

20. Real of artificial tree? Artificial. I've never had a real one. I think I'm ok with that.

21. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Home Sweet home! The joys of both sets of parents in town! Every Christmas Eve, whomever of our friends and family doesn't have plans comes to join us for nibblies and coffee.

22. What is the most annoying thing about this time of year? Having to do groceries on the weekend! ugggghhhh! I'm not used to having to shop with a lot of other people around!

23. When do you take down your Christmas tree? usually by New year's.

24. What is your favourite Christmas Album? Kenny G's xmas album is great for background music when you're entertaining. I picked up "Barenaked for the Holidays" by the Barenaked Ladies. And I've already been enjoying that one. (Although my kids love that they have the Jingle Bells verse that involves Batman and Robin!)

25. What is your favourite Christmas Song? Hmmm, I think it would have to be "O Holy Night"
(usually better if someone else sings it though.....actually that would apply to pretty much every song!)

Well, that's it! It's amazing what I can get done at work when it's slow!!!
