October 2 was the Run for the Cure, for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Thank you to all who sponsored me. Individually I raised $475. Our team, "Breastperate Housewives" was able to raise over $5300! Last year we had only 6 members. We did the walk in honour of the battle that our friend Christine was just beginning. She was unable to run with us because she had just had surgery, but she met us at the finish line. This year our little team grew to 31 members (not including spouses and children who did the walk with us)!!! It was exciting to see our team grow, but disheartening to know that our team had grown because yet another friend of ours, Tracy, was diagnosed this past year. Thankfully Christine has completed all her chemo treatments and radiation and is back to great health. Yesterday was Tracy's last chemo treatment (YAY!!!). We'll be celebrating in no time when her radiation is done as well. Christine has been an inspiration to me with her faith in God through this past year and a half. (and very impressively she still managed to shop through chemo treatments!).
Tracy has an amazing ability to take things as they come with a fantastic attitude. Thank you ladies for all you've taught the rest of us. You remain in our prayers and we trust that all the money that was raised will help find a cure for breast cancer.
