Wagensveld Christmas

Well, our final big Christmas ta-do lasted a little longer than our other ones! With family from out of town we enjoyed having them stay a few extra days. Christmas Eve was at our place, then Christmas Day we spent at Mom and Dad's playing "The Amazing Race" DVD game, and "Clue" DVD game. Turns out both Jacob and Melissa make great partners! Thanks, guys! I apparently should have listened to Melissa a whole lot sooner because she knew the answer to Clue a full two rounds before anyone else!!

Jen and Doug and their little elf, Brayden arrived late afternoon which of course the kids were VERY much looking forward too... and not JUST for the presents! Once they got settled in we moved to the living room to start exchanging. Right about that time I got a doozy of a migraine which pretty much sent me right upstairs with my 2 tylonol and 2 advil (apparently stronger than tylonol 3's and works fairly well when i don' t have my prescription around). Very annoying! Especially since I couldn't really take in Jason's expression when he opened his retro pack of Garbage Pail Kid cards which I found for him. Man, those things are ugly! Hard to believe we used to save our money (unbeknownst to mom!) for those silly cards.....those and Wacky Cards!....anyone remember those?

Boxing Day was a better day for me with my migraine gone. Christmas dinner turned out really yummy. The turkey mom did was GREAT!!! Then it was a nice relaxing rest of the day and evening. We watched a few home videos and Jason, Jenn, Jennifer, Dave and I played some wicked (ok....that word dates me!) game of Speed Uno.

The next day Jason cooked. Yes, I know. You really did read that right. (tee hee!). No really, he did a great job of making us all pancakes for breakfast. Delish! Then I very much enjoyed playing some peek-a-boo with Annika. I'd cover my eyes and say "where's Annika?" then uncover my eyes and say "peek-a-boo". Then she'd cover her EARS and say something that sounded like "anna". It was just too darn cute!

Jason and Jenn left around 11am and Jen and Doug in the afternoon. At that point I had showered and put my bumming around clothes back on. After a busy few days I put a few loads of laundry in and picked up my book, then folded some laundry while watching tv. All in my sweats! Life is good.

Thursday Dave and I took the girls to see Charlotte's Web. It was REALLY very good! The girls enjoyed it a lot. As did I....especially remembering all the cool parts from the book which I must have read at least a dozen times as a kid.

Thursday night I worked. It was pretty quiet there so I got some studying done for my course. The peace really was nice! Then it was off to the Taylor's to meet baby Isaac visiting from Oklahoma. What a doll! Literally! I think he was about 9 1/2 lbs and he's 5 months old! He was premature and had some pretty significant problems with his heart at birth. He really is a little miracle baby!

After a lovely visit catching up with old friends it was back over to Brad and Derrien's who were watching the kids for us. (Thanks guys!). Instead of taking the kids right home it was really only 'right' that we stay for a few moments and help them try out their new Wii!!!
Oh man!!! I almost 'wii-ed' my pants! It's hysterical! If you don't know what I'm talking about the Wii is a new Nintendo game system which is as close to virtual reality as you can get. You use a wireless remote pointed at the screen to move. So you actually bowl to play the bowling game, actually pitch in baseball, and swing in tennis! Very cool! And the boxing is quite the workout! (Dave may have won, but I knocked him down WAY more times!!!).

Last night the Fahrer 4 were over for dinner and Derek had asked us if he could see some home videos of our family. Lots of fun! ;0)
Today it was off to Jen and Wayne's for a very YUMMY brunch (delish, Jen!!) and then us girlies went to the mall for a bit this aft. Tonight we were off to Andy and Cyndi's to visit with the Klassen's, visiting from Georgia, and the rest of the coffee group too.

So, once again it's been a busy few days. But I'll let you in on a little secret!!!! shhhhh.
I actually enjoy it a lot!!! I like being busy. It helps me procrastinate from the housework, schoolwork and what not. I don't mind it one bit!

But it is getting late so I'm off to bed now! Gotta rest up because I have a feeling I'll be playing Wii until the wee hours of the morning tomorrow!

Sounds like you've had a great holiday, Krista! Jim has Wacky Pack cards too - found them in Chatham and he brought them home. I had never heard of them before.
Happy New Year!

Does he want to sell them? I know my brother's wife would LOVE to add to his collection of "gonna be worth something someday" cards!
I'd love to see them one day! Walk down memory lane

Krista: don't even mention this new card collection to Jay. According to him, we're already "billionaires" with all of his hockey cards. Funny how there's never enough moola for all of my shopping excursions though!! ;)

Nope, don't think he'll part with his Wacky Packs - at least he didn't in Sept at the estate sale. I'll have to hunt them down in one of the 18 roughnecks!
